Dear Valinda:I was dating a man for two years when he suddenly married a widower whose husband was killed accidentally during a military war game exercise. She had a little girl named Nolan. For now I will call him Jeff.Jeff assured me that he didn't love this woman, but he had to marry her because his high-profile boss at work and the Senator from our district was pressuring him to do so.. I never fully understood what was so important about this woman or why Jeff was pushed into marring her. All I knew was that shortly after they got married, Jeff adopted the little girl.I was with him for two years before this happened. As far as I know, they only dated three or four times before getting engaged. When Jeff told me that he still loved me and needed me, I believed him.
