Strengths / Features: TheProclick Pronto P3000 is an all in one binding solution that isdesigned for use in a professional office environment. It was designedto look very much like a large desktop laser printer. The design ofthis machine helps to make sure that it doesn't seem out of place in aprofessional office space. However, the machine is not only classy butit is also highly functional. It includes a binding punch at the bottomof the machine and an inserting unit at the top of the machine tofinish your documents.The P3000 is fast. In fact, once yourdocuments are punched, it only takes about six seconds to insert andclose the spine. That is faster than any other finishing unit on themarket. The punch on this unit is simple to operate and is controlledby the touch of a button. It can handle between fifteen to twentysheets of 20lb paper at a time which is a fairly decent punchingcapacity for an all in one binding unit.Most large pieces ofGBC modular binding equipment only come with a 90 day warranty.However, GBC has chosen to support this unit with a one year onsitewarranty. This means that if you have problems with your unit duringthe first year that it is in service, GBC will come to your locationand fix your machine for you. Very few other manufacturers offer thattype of service.The Pronto P3000 binds documents with theGBC Proclick binding system. This innovative new binding system hassome real strengths. It can lay flat like comb binding, can wrap aroundlike wire binding and offers a contemporary look that no other bindingsystems can match. Documents bound with this binding style can also beedited by end users by simply unzipping the spine of the document usinga small zipper tool. This feature is ideal for sales organizations andcompanies that need to have their representatives edit documents in thefield or on the go. Weaknesses / Limitations: TheProclick Pronto P3000 is only designed for use with letter sizeddocuments that are bound on the eleven inch edge. It cannot be usedwith oversized covers, half sized sheets, legal sized paper or anyother document sizes.The thicknesses of documents that canbe bound with this unit are also limited. There are currently onlythree sizes of spines available for this machine. Small spines are5/16" in diameter and can handle about forty sheets of twenty poundpaper. Medium spines are 1/2" and can handle about seventy sheets ofpaper. Large spines are 5/8" in diameter and can handle about onehundred sheets of paper. These spines come loaded into specialcartridges that are inserted into the back of the machine.Unfortunately these are the only sizes that will work with the P3000.If these sizes don't work for your organization then you will need tochoose a different binding style.There are only four colorsof spines available for this system. You can choose from Black, NavyBlue, White and Frost. Custom colors are not available and the lastword from GBC was that there are no other colors planned for thissystem.The binding punch on the P3000 is a medium duty punchthat works great for punching standard paper and cardstock. The punchcan even punch a clear cover if you punch it along with paper. However,the punch does not handle poly covers very well. It is highlyrecommended that you purchase prepunched Proclick pronto covers if youwant to use plastic covers with this system. Plastic covers have toomuch flex for this punch and will ruin your punch if you attempt topunch them.This system does not come with the small zippertools that you use to open and close your documents. It does have aspine opening tool on the left side of the machine. However, it is areally good idea to order some extra zipper tools when you order thesupplies for your machine so that you have them on hand for editingyour documents. You can even give each of your employees their ownzipper tool so that they can open and edit documents on their own. Recommendation: TheProclick P3000 binding machine is a great machine for a small or mediumsized office that is looking for an easy to use and highly professionalbinding system.This machine looks a lot like a desktop laser printer and is designed to blend in with your other office equipment.However, it can create highly professional, contemporary looking reports, presentations and proposals in record time.Providedyou can live with the sizes, colors and punching limitations of thismachine it will be a great addition to your office.
