The Printing Properties window thatappears after you have chosen either 'Properties' from the Print Windowin most programs, or 'Preferences' from the Print Setup window in Adobeprograms (InDesign, Illustrator), is the primary console for printingconfiguration with your Foilfast printer. Here is where you wil choosewhether you want to print in one or more colors, whether you want touse the Foil Primer for an undercoat, which material you wish to printon, and more. This article will help you to understand the differentoptions available in the printer properties windows of the P21xFoilfast printer. The Print Properties window has five sections: Media Type; Paper Size; Orientation; Copies; and Print Mode Media Type: In Media Type, you choose which material you are using to print. Thereare seven choices available: Foilfast Comp Cover - HIGH, Foilfast CompCover - LOW, Foilfast Coated Paper Cover, Foilfast ClearCover, FoilfastTitle Sheet - Suede and Foilfast Title Sheet - Comp and User Defined. Paper Size: In Paper Size, you choose the size of your paper or cover material.There are six standard paper sizes listed: 8.5" x 11" (letter size),8.5" x 14" (legal size), 5.5" x 8.5" (half letter), A4 (210mm x 297mm),A5 (148mm x 210mm) and B5 (182mm x 257mm). However, you can also choosea user defined size for printing on custom sheet sizes. The paper sizedialog also has a scaling feature that allows you to reduce or enlargethe document between 25% to 400%. Orientation: Orientation determines the direction of the image as it prints on thecover, and whether it is right or reverse reading. You can choosebetween either portrait or landscape orientations. You can choose toflip your document horizontally the mirror image of the document as itdisplays on your screen. You may want to use this feature when printingin black or white on Clear Covers. There is also a check box forprinting upside down. The upside down check box should be checked whenyou are printing on FoilFast title sheets. Copies: You may enter the numbers of copies you wish to print here (optional).This feature is also available in the main Print Window. Print Mode: This section is where you decide which and how many colors you wish to print. The Single Ink print mode allows a document to be printedin one specific color using any selected foil color cartridge. When youselect Single Ink mode, all selectable cartridges are shown with radiobuttons in the Select Cartridge(s) area. The default cartridgeselection is Gold Foil. The multiple color mode allows a document to be printed inmulti-color using any selected cartridges. When you select Multiple Inkmode, all selectable cartridges are shown with checkboxes in the SelectCartridge(s) area. You must select at least 1 and no more than 7colors. The default cartridge is Gold Foil. If the Undercoat setting is checked The primer cartridge willbe used for printing. The primer cartridge is required for printing onClear Covers, and it may improve the print quality on other printmedia. The default setting is Undercoat off. When using sheets with a rough texture, you may want to checkDouble Pass Printing to increase the density of the foil. When DoublePass Printing is checked, the printer prints each line twice. Thischeck box is grayed out when Foilfast Clear Covers is selected. In theDefault setting, the Double Pass printing checkbox is not checked. The Overlay option allows two consecutive pages of a document to be printed on the same sheet.Show Status checks the Foilfast for installed cartridges and how much foil is left in each cartridge.
