DFG's E Titan Wire is an electric wire bindingsystem that is meant for ultra heavy duty use. In this review, we willtake a closer look at this machine a list what we consider to be someof its strengths and weaknesses. Strengths: DFG is making a name for itself by creating feature-richmachines that are built to last. The E Titan Wire is certainly noexception. This machine features all metal construction of all majorcomponents, including the base, table, handle and casing. All of theinternal mechanisms are also make of heavy duty steel. It sure seems tous that DFG constructed this machine to provide the user with years ofservice without requiring any major repairs or maintenance. The E Titan Wire features one of the highest volume punching capacitiesthat we have found on any of the desktop sire binding systems that wehave come across. DFG has termed their punching technology"turbopunch," and the name seems fitting. The E Titan Wire can easilypunch up to twenty eight sheets at a time, a capacity which will almostcertainly help productivity in your punching and binding process. The three to one pitch, square hole pattern that the E Titan Wire usesoffers you some flexibility in your document production, giving you theoption of binding with double loop wire, GBC Proclick, or spiral coilstyles. This is a great option to have if you produce internal (lessformal looking) and external (higher quality) documents on a regularbasis. They also produce this machine in a 2:1 pitch version. Wire closers come in all different qualities, and we found the one onthe E Titan Wire to be one of the strongest, most durable we have everseen. The two adjustment knobs let the user fine tune the process tothe point that every book will be closed in a uniform fashion. The twosteel blocks used in the process look like they will stand up to yearsof use without warping. All in all, a really impressive wire closingsetup. Here is a quick rundown of some of theother things we really like about this machine: The punching pins arefully disengageable, which means that you can cleanly punch holes injust about any size document; there is a continuous punching guide thathelps immensely with the two punch process needed for larger documentssuch as legal size. A sizing guide that helps you to find the correctwire size for your project; a foot control pedal that allows you tooperate the machine, leaving your hands free and increasingproductivity. Weaknesses: One of the most glaring weaknesses of the E Titan Wire isthat it has just an eleven inch punch. There are machines out theresuch as the Akiles WireMac E that feature fourteen inch, or legal sizepunching throats. They might be a better choice if you think that yourorganization will have to bind documents of that size on a regularbasis. We certainly missed having a wire hangeron the E Titan Wire. This omission, without a doubt, reduces theproductivity level of this machine. The locationof the wire closer on the top of the machine is a little unwieldy. Wefound it difficult to lift the book up to the wire closer withouthaving pages fall off the spine. DFG is arelatively new manufacturer and their customer service and warrantyservice can sometimes leave something to be desired. Luckily theirmachines don't break very often.
