Procreationthrough pollination is more advantageous to all flowering plants than by othermeans like vegetative reproduction. Butunfortunately, many flowering plants do suffer from problems like parthenocarpyand stenospermocarpy. The parthenocarpyis nothing but the formation of fruits without fertilization. On the other hand, the stenospermocarpy is astate where fruits are formed without seeds. Accordingto botany, many reasons can be cited for the above situation in floweringplants. The parthenocarpy andstenospermocarpy, both can eliminate the plant population in no time from thebiome. But nature has never allowed suchevent to occur. Nature gave analternative method of vegetative propagation to some of the plants that arefrequently affected by the above problem. Mostof the flowering plants produce large number of flowers for the purpose ofpropagation. In the sense they are superperformers as far as their propagation instinct is concerned. But remember, the super performers do sufferthe worst in nature. Insteadof worrying or blaming the fate or destiny, the plants do switch to other modeof reproduction. Anotherimportant insight one must grab from the plants affected either byparthenocarpy or stenospermocarpy is that they do produce fruits. Although such fruits (fruits withoutfertilized seeds or fruits without seeds) will not meet or fulfill the ultimatepurpose of the plants, it does meet the very existence of the pollinators byfulfilling their food needs. Althoughthe plants failed in their purpose due to some reason, they do not want to failthe existence of the pollinators. Ifthe life and existence of the pollinators are in jeopardy, plants may sufferfurther tragedy in the next breeding season and thereby the saga of disasterwould continue. Nature has taught theplants not to allow the problem of parthenocarpy or stenospermocarpy to extendbeyond. Theproblem has to be limited, diluted, confined and fixed and should not beallowed to spread its kingdom of dismay. A great management message one need to thread from the above event innature. Oneof the reasons for the problem of parthenocarpy and stenospermocarpy ispollination failure. Pollination failureis mainly due to the lack of effective pollinators. In order to be successful in pollinationevent at least during the next breeding season, the plants has to keep the pollinatorsin good humor. That is why we havefruits without fertilized seeds or without seeds in nature. Aproblem should never be allowed to multiply into another problem and a problemshould breed only a solution.
