Electrical design has come a long way from bundled wires held together by zip ties and tape. Electrical design has become an artwork in itself, particularly in the silicon chip industry. In a world that views beauty above almost everything else, even the most mundane, taken-for-granted aspects of life must be beautiful, even if that beauty is unseen by the masses. Most of the cords and wires in electrical design have become more hidden over time, while other cords and wires have become works of fine art, with fiber optic light displays put on every time electricity flows. While this type of wiring is not common, it will soon be available on the mass market.What is available on the mass market, yet known by very few, is the art that is being found more and more on the silicon chips of modern and archaic technology. This electrical design art, known as chip art, is unseen to the naked eye. This art is only seen by a powerful microscope and is viewed as one of the smallest forms of art known. In chip art, the electrical design of the chip allows for blank spots on the chip. This blank spot is then filled up with a small drawing. There are cheetahs etched on some chips to poke fun at the speed of the chip, while some chips contain Warner Brothers and Disney characters. Each type of chip seems to have its own little electrical design. While these designs are not on every chip, they are on some and if they are on one type of that chip, they are on the rest of that type of chip. The consistency of a type of chip having a type of chip art would indicate that the picture was placed there during the electrical design of the chip, probably with the aide of a CAD software program. It is highly unlikely that the characters on the chips were painted there individually. It is also highly unlikely that these figures were accidents and not purposely placed there. The finding of this form of electrical design art came quiet by accident. A programmer, trying to find the broken section of a circuit with a powerful scope, scanned the chip, he noticed a figure. This figure began the craze to find more figures and to collect all the chips with these figures on them, honoring the art of electrical design.It is nice to know that in a field that can be as stressful as electrical design, people are able to keep a sense of humor and spread joy to others who work in the field as well. It is also something to be said about the culture that we live in that art can be so well treasured that it even decorates what cannot be seen by the naked eye. It is only through art that such designs take place to begin with, and hopefully these artists will never stop, working forever on their tiny canvases.
