The Powis Parker Fastback P21x printer isdesigned to allow you to print high quality graphics using foil onpresentation covers and title sheets for hard cover binding. Thisarticle will provide you with step by step instructions for installingthe FoilFast P21x FoilFast printer in Windows XP. However it isimportant to remember that all previously installed FoilFast softwaremust be removed before installing new FoilFast software. Please makesure you have installed previous versions before continuing. 1.Plug your printer into your computer using either a USB cable or aparallel printer cable. The P21x printer is the first generation of theFoilfast Printer to include a USB port. If you have an older P21printer without USB you may be able to use a parallel to USB conversioncable. However, not all brands of USB to parallel cables work with thisunit. Check with your local Powis Parker dealer for a list ofcompatible brands. 2.After you have plugged the unit into your computer, turn your printeron. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" screen should appear. If you havethe driver disk for your software you can get it ready now. Otherwiseyou should be able to find the software for this printer atpowis.com/software 3.Click on "Install from a list or specific location" and click 'Next'.The Hardware wizard will then ask you to locate your installationsoftware. 4.Click 'Browse' and locate your software, or insert your installationCD into the computer. When you have located the folder that containsthe software, the 'OK' button will become available. If you are not ina folder or subdirectory that contains the installation software, the'OK' button will remained grayed out. 5.Click 'OK'. The Hardware Wizard will now show the location of thesoftware in the window labeled "Include this location in the search."Make sure that the box above this section is checked. 6.Click 'Next' and the program will search for the new software. 7.At this point you may receive a warning that the software you areabout to install has not passed Windows Logo testing. If this windowappears, click 'Continue Anyway'. The Hardware Wizard should nowinstall the software onto your computer. 8.The Hardware Wizard will notify you when it is finished installingthe printer software. Click 'Finish'. The printer device drivers andFoilFast software will not be loaded onto your computer and you shouldbe ready to customize your documents with foil. After you have completed these steps, your printer should be ready touse. If, for any reason your installation was not successful, removeall components of the FoilFast software from your computer and try theinstallation again. The current version of Foilfast drives seems towork well with Windows XP but customers have reported issues trying toinstall the printer on Windows Vista.
