The younger generation is getting newerideologies to cinema, a newer point of view to look at films. It is veryintriguing to be in touch with the new generation” the 48 year old maestrofilmmaker quoted in an IANS’s interview. Sanjay Leela Bhansalishowcases his desire to try his hands at fresher things in his upcomingproductions. Rowdy Rathore, starring Akshay Kumar, is a action-packed flick,while Shirin Farhad with Boman Irani and Farah Khan, is a love storyof a parsi couple and My Friend Pinto, ready to hit thescreens on Oct 14, is a out and out comedy. On being asked if itwas easy for the maestro to switch off the director in him and only producefilms, the filmmaker responded: “I’m a very selfish director. The director inme is always very alive. First when I was going through the scripts, Icontemplated why am I not doing work on my own directorial? But when I finallyconcluded to produce the films, I put in conscious efforts trying not tointervene. Thus resulting in selection of scripts which weren’t of my forte, sothat I can supervise and guide from a distance”, the filmmaker added. At themoment, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is looking forward to the release of MyFriend Pinto, which has been directed by debutant Raghav Dar, andstar’s Prateik Babbar and Kalki Koechlin as the protagonists.  Speaking of MyFriend Pinto, Bhansali added “it was a script that was filled with smiles,packed with unusual characters, created with an unusual point of view, whichhad humor in the weirdest of situations. I just found the entire take veryfabulous and fascinating”. This shift is extremely refreshing for a filmmakerlike Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has created epic movies like HumDil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Black and Guzaarish.“It was a challenge to adapt out of my comfort zone to produce a film of thisgenre”, Sanjay Leela Bhansali added.“It moved me a lot onthe basic premise – learn to respect a friend. Also this is a film I would havenever made. I’m not artistically capable to make a film like this, it’s not mygenre. But it’s a great endeavor producing it. We are paying tribute to KundanShah in this film because Raghav is a great fan of his”, he said. Just like many whohave praised Prateik’s acting palette and temperament,Bhansali too is impressed with the 24 year old young actor and the son of RajBabbar and late actress Smita Patil. “Prateik has grown up; he is a man now whocan take responsibilities. He doesn’t have to rely or depend on people. Heboasts a lot of talent, coming with a clean slate image and fits into anycharacter.  The innocence on his face andthe way he talks just incorporated into the character.  Adding more the filmmaker says “He isextremely spontaneous and he has consanguinity. He resembles to his mother inacting. One cannot stray his attention from him when he performs”. Sanjay Leela Bhansalihopes to get back to direction at the earliest. He has finished the scriptingprocess for his next film and will now move on to decide the cast and creweventually next month. The filmmaker even quoted”I’ll start shooting my nextfilm in June next year and will announce the cast next month”.
