Defects of the womb Defects of the womb- uterus are some of the main causes of infertility. Fibroid, cyst, cancer of the cervix, Polyp, Hydatidiform mole, Ovarian cyst, are just a few of these defects that can affect the womb.The uterus is situated in the pelvic cavity. This is where, after its long journey through the fallopian tube, the fertilised egg finally embeds and starts to develop from an embryo into a baby for about forty weeks. The lower part of the uterus opens into the vagina at the neck of the cervix. The upper part of the uterus opens into the Fallopian tube.
