It is great to know that we want to teach teens responsibility. What about car insurance? Sounds like a great start. Having a car, paying for gas and insurance is a great way to teach teens responsibility. The problem is, they can not afford it. My brother is paying two hundred dollars a month for a 1999 Saturn, full coverage. You need insurance but, that is ridiculous. I am sure one of the key parts to insurance companies getting rich is a 16 year old getting a car. When I was in high school my car insurance was pretty high, so this is nothing new. What I do remember is, I never really heard about many kids getting into an accident. They are high risk but, I am sure they are a lot more safe than all the adults in this world driving to a bar every night. To me being an adult and finally having the relief of car insurance going down after 9 years is great but, it still bothers me. It is not fair. They should at least lower the insurance twenty dollars a year with a clean record. I know there is nothing you can do so, you just have to tough it out. The problem is you have gas, nothing you can do about that one. Just be thankful it is not four dollars like it was. In most cases these days, the parents are helping out. Working at Burger King twenty hours a week, dose not leave you much after your car expenses. How are these teens going to learn responsibility? The economy is bad, that is our reality. Maybe I am not thinking clearly but, why should the youngsters have to deal with it. We should have a program that makes it easier for teens to afford things. It is not their fault we are in debt. If the high school kids could live a little more freely with their checks and take care of their responsibilities on their own, not having help from their parents. Don't you think they would grow up stronger and more responsible. The future would be in a much better place.
