Imagine life without teachers. Itwould probably be so hard getting to learn the alphabet all by ourselves. Wewould also most likely commit numerous mistakes because nobody tells us whatwould work and what wont. Teachers or Mentors work as guides, teaching usthings we should know in order for us to succeed. Without them, we wouldprobably go through all the learning and studying process all by ourselves. Theproblem is, it would definitely take more time compared by having a mentor whowould at least make the process faster and easier. So, the question is, why do weneed a mentor? We would probably be somehow egotistical, believing we alreadyknow what needs to be known in the business setting that we are into, making ussomehow skeptical on having a mentor. But the thing is, whether we believe itor not, having a mentor would still provide us with multitude of benefits thatare worth taking. First, mentors are far moreexperienced. They have been in the same industry for quite some time, with awide range of experiences and connections that would be of great help tofurther our career. Second, they help us take thebetter path and avoid committing mistakes that they have already done. They arealready in the position to tell you the proper way of doing things and mayadvise you on what are the things that may work for you and your business. Third, since they arewell-experienced and have probably accomplished a lot of things already, theywill most likely have a wide network of people who share the same interests andindustry that you may also tap. For your business to grow, you need a widenetwork. People who may either be your target clients, or people who may be inthe position to help you spread your marketing message across people who may beinterested in your business. Either way, you may still have the chance to takefull advantage of that. Finally, mentors act asmotivators. They let you look in a different perspective. They show you thingsyou probably wouldnt see in your entire lifetime. They inspire you to becomesomeone you dont imagine yourself being. In the end, your ultimate successwill highly depend on how you perform. Mentors are only there to guide you.They will not do it for you. You will make it happen. The outcome of your endeavor will stilldepend on the decisions that you make and on your will to attain your goals.
