You'll spend hours worrying about the message your booth will present, the colors you'll use, and how you'll incorporate demonstrations of your product, but how long do you spend considering what size your booth should be? Many companies give far too little thought to this very important question. As more conventions open up spaces for many different sized trade show exhibits, it is no longer a simple decision based upon the standard amount of room. The burden falls to the design team and the marketing team to make the best decision while staying within budget.Bigger Isn't Always BetterCommon wisdom states that choosing larger portable exhibits will always create a more eye-catching unit, which in turn will draw bigger crowds. Surprisingly, this isn't always the case. Don't feel pressured to purchase a large unit, even if you have the budget for it. How much text and how many photos and graphics will you need to put on the walls? Do you need to display products as part of your trade show exhibits? If you are planning to showcase merchandise for sale, you should strongly consider a larger unit, as shelving tends to quickly overwhelm small portable exhibits. Next, consider what kind of design would best suit your goals and enhance what you are trying to communicate at the convention. Are you showcasing a new, futuristic invention? Explore trade show exhibits which fit that model, with a futuristic feeling including ample metal elements. This part of the process can, and should, be guided primarily by your instincts and knowledge of your company. Browse a convention magazine if you need a bit of inspiration, and don't be afraid to think outside the box. A well-proportioned, carefully considered booth is sure to draw focus and get visitors to step inside your display. Figuring Out The Exact SizeOnce you have decided to invest in a non-standard unit size for your next marketing material purchase, be sure that you pick something you can use at many conventions in the future. You will no doubt want to showcase it outside of exhibitions as well, but be certain that it can shine on the convention floor in future years. Check with all your regularly attended events, ensuring that they have available room for a structure like yours. If not, that doesn't necessarily mean you should scrap what you've been working on; it might instead be wise to invest in the custom unit, but also keep your old one in case your new one cannot be used at a future venue.
