Whether you realize it or not, as a small business owner you are the main economic push for not only business in the United States but also for all the other Western developed countries. The Western developed countries are responsible for producing most of the tax dollars as well as the creation of new jobs which allows most of us in this part of the world to have a very nice overall lifestyle, especially when you consider the fact that there are still 3 billion people on the planet that are less than two dollars per day.However there is a problem that exists with most of these businesses, and that problem is they're not taking advantage of all the opportunities that Internet marketing is putting in front of them. In fact I can't even begin to describe how much opportunity the average United States small business is missing out on because they just aren't aware of it. As an Internet marketing professional and local business specialist, I can tell you from 13 years of experience that even I have trouble keeping in touch with all the opportunities that local business has that it's not taking advantage of.The problem that's going on right now as small businesses are trying to market the old-fashioned way and yes there giving good service and even have great products and the reputation for the most part is good because they're building up to the local community. However, the Internet marketing opportunities available to these local businesses are just passing them by. In some cases just one or two local businesses in a particular niche or taking advantage of these opportunities, and in some areas and some niches no businesses at all are take advantage of any of these opportunities which leaves a big gaping hole for the first ambitious business that wants to move in and clean up.The standard way of promoting a local business would be to order a few advertisements in your local newspaper and then by an ad in the Yellow Pages. No back in the day these methods were very predictable and just about always worked because you can always depend on people looking at these two venues when they were in search of doing business with somebody such as yourself. And the more of an advertising budget you had the more you could afford to spend on these particular advertisements and the more people you can you expect to walk in your businesses front door as a result of these advertisements. However these days things are somewhat different and changing and everything is moving to the Internet when you want to realize it are not.While back in the day everybody used to pick up the Yellow Pages is the number one source of advertising, however now they're turning to Google, Google maps, yelp and other places to search not only for information on business hours and locations but on the reputation of the business as well. So as a local business owner serious about driving in the future, you're not only responsible for making sure that your businesses found on the Internet, but you're also responsible for making sure that your business reputation is intact as well.As a small business owner the first thing you want to do to make your Local Marketing Easy as possible, is to make sure that your business is listed in Google maps, Google places, yelp, the Internet version of the Yellow Pages and about a dozen other places that all local businesses should be archived at. The next thing you want to do, is to do some in-depth keyword research starting with the Google ad words tool, and make sure that you have a complete keyword list regarding every single business keyword that you want to rank on. You can put up a blog and eventually rank on every one of these keywords into do this all you need to do is to know how to get back links to each of these pages and make sure each on site pages properly optimized for the search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo.
