There are a lot of things that could go wrong, from spilling a cup of coffee on yourself, to needing to do minor repairs on your trade show exhibits. Before you pack up your trade show displays and take them to your next event, make it a point to think about the 'what ifs' and plan for some of the most common contingencies.Eliminate Trip Hazards Surrounding Your Trade Show ExhibitsTrade show booths, unfortunately, can be the perfect place for trips, slips and falls. There's confusion and a lot going on in a relatively small space, which can cause problems. Take care to pick up anything that you find on the floor, such as small scraps of paper, pens and pencils. Also take care to cover any electrical cords that might be bringing power from the outlets to your exhibits. You can usually find special flat cord covers, but if you're stuck in a pinch, a plain old roll of duct tape will serve the same purpose.Bring Supplies To Make Minor RepairsEven well-packaged displays could have minor damage after being shipped to the event venue. If your trade show displays have been damaged, make sure you have the supplies needed to fix them. Hook and loop tape, masking tape, staples, markers and more can help you make minor repairs on your trade show booths.Pack A Change Of ClothingIt's not a bad idea to toss a change of clothing into your bag before you head to the event venue. You could accidentally spill something on your clothing or even cut your clothing with a mishap with a pair of scissors or box cutting knife. Spending the entire day with a coffee stain or a rip in your shirt is embarrassing, but also sends off an unprofessional vibe to everyone who visits your exhibits. If you happen to be staying in the same venue as the marketing event, you'll probably be okay with leaving your spare set of clothes in your room, however if you need to take a cab to the venue, it won't hurt to have the spare set of clothes with you.Don't Forget The First Aid KitIt's nearly inevitable - you're going to need a first aid kit. From splitting headaches from the loud music at your neighbors' trade show displays, to bandages for paper cuts or worse, you should pack a small first aid kit. Things to remember are over the counter pain relievers like aspirin or ibuprofen, bandages and anti-bacterial ointment, antacids and other first aid necessities.Preparing for the worst can save you a lot of headaches if minor things do go wrong before, during and after you've set up your displays. Although you can't plan for every mishap, there are a lot of things you can plan for without much effort.
