Kingston is somewhat of a historical city with many well loved and preserved buildings. Just east of Kingston many visitors enjoy the beautiful Thousand Islands. The Thousand Islands are actually made up of nearly two thousand islands. In keeping with Kingston historical reputation, a restored British fortification, Fort Henry, dominates the town from a hill top on the outskirts. Dating from 1832 the beautiful structure is surrounded by uniformed guards who reenact military drills, displays go on throughout a visit.With restored Fort York and many public historical homes and churches there is ample opportunity to continue a historical theme in Toronto. A favorite is Casa Loma, a ninety eight room Medieval castle built in the early 1900s. Toronto is also something of an arts center for both the province and the country with musical bands, Broadway shows, dance and the fashion industry flourishing here. The Art Gallery of Ontario houses paintings from the fourteenth century to the present day and is well known for its vast collection of Henry Moore sculptures. The Royal Ontario Museum is the Canada largest museum and it covers everything from the history of the human race to dinosaurs and Chinese crafts.The city has a multitude of attractions for both the tourists and local residents. Ontario Place which was built offshore from the Canadian National Exhibition grounds on three artificial islands. It features a white geodesic dome known as the Cinesphere where movies are shown on a six storeyed high circular screen. It is a popular spot for music, culture, rides and IMAX movies.
