There is something in this city that might remind someone of California. At least, the city is very different from the East coast. But without no doubt, Denver will win your favour. If you come here after you visit large cities like New York and Boston, Denver will impress you with lack of crowds on its streets. At workdays, mornings look like its Sunday. Of course, those who are used to crushes, will feel bored, but if you prefer peaceful atmosphere, this is the place you will like. Secondly, the city is so clean, that you might even want to take off your shoes and walk barefooted down the streets. In New York all the garbage from the skyscraper offices is packed into bags and placed in front of the buildings, where it lies till morning. Denver has skyscrapers too, but it seems that there are no garbage here at all! The centre of downtown is crossed by a wide boulevard (16th street or Mall Street), with various souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants, clubs and shopping malls located along it. What you might be interested in are unusual fountains that look like sewerage hatches with water spurting from them. In the evening the street is filled with idle public. The choice of entertainment is rather good. As for the citys attractions, you can stroll along the downtown, visit the County Building and Colorado State Capitol, observe the Denver US Mint (there are two of them in the USA)& The Larimer square offers lots of restaurants, pubs, cafes and fast foods to fit every taste. Not far from the Mint there is another citys attraction found: Denver Art Museum with excellent works by Georgia O'Keefe. To study history, go to the Colorado history museum, found not far from the Capitolium, on «Civic Center» park territory. «Cherry Creek Mall» is located not far from downtown. This is Denvers most popular mall, also famous for the fact that «Tattered Cover» shop (one of the countrys best book stores) is found across the street. On postcards Denver is often depicted on the mountainous background. But you are not likely see mountains that close to the city. Still, Denver is situated in the mountains, and in advertisement it is often called mile high city you can see mountain tops from some buildings. That is the reason why the air is so clear in Denver: no dust or smog, only scarcely perceptible smell of greenery. Awesome! If you like sunbathing, dont forget that you are 1.5 km above the sea level, otherwise you take the risk of getting a bad sunburn. For me, Denver is the place I would like to live in. I like its air and people, Im impressed by its cleanliness and fond of a shade of provinciality in it. Of course, there is no ocean there, but mountains with their snow-covered tops are astonishing. People seem to be really friendly, too. The only disadvantage is that suburbs are a bit tiresome only fields and farming grounds.
