Across thestreet from the Hollywood and Highlandscomplex on Hollywood Blvdis the Roosevelt Hotel. The hotel is an older property dating  to the 1920s. Today the Roosevelt Hotel isowned by the Thompson Hotel chain and is often ground zero of weekly Hollywood parties that include paparazzi and celebrities.The sidewalk running beside the Roosevelthotel also contains stars from the Walk of Fame.  The Hollywood and Highland entertainmentcenter is home to the Kodak and Mann’s Grauman’s Chinese theatres. At thecenter of the Hollywood and Highland center is the Renaissance Hotel. Thehotel is an all white high-rise that over looks the entire center. Visitorsbooking a room on the south side will find they have a view of all of Hollywood and Highland, Hollywood and in thedistance Downtown Los Angeles.  Walkingout the front doors of the lobby guests will be in the heart of fountains,world class shopping, the subway with nonstop service to Universal Studios andDowntown LA and hourly departures of tour buses bound for all parts of LA. Franklin Avenueruns parallel to Hollywood Blvdand stretches behind the Hollywood and Highland complex. There are a variety of family stylebudget hotels located along this corridor and all provide easy access to the Hollywood and Highland Center. The Magic CastleHotel on Franklin Blvd.is family friendly and is adjacent to the Magic Castlewhere every evening magic shows are performed on an invite only basis-althoughguests of the hotel are invited for free. The MagicCastle hotel is walking distance tothe Hollywoodand Highland Complex and Walk of Fame. Running right off of Franklinis a small street called Orchid Drive that ends at the back wall of the Hollywood and Highlandscomplex. On this street is the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, Hollywood LibertySuites and Hollywood Orchid Hotel. All of these properties are smaller, nolarger than 2 story structures that house clean, efficient, smaller hotel roomsthat are a good fit for the budget traveler or family. By being adjacent to theHollywood and Highlandscomplex, guests are just steps away from all the excitement of tour buses, Walkof Fame and dining opportunities.   Just north of the Hollywoodand Highlandcomplex on Highland Avenueis another stretch of family friendly/economy hotels.  Driving up Highland visitors will always seegroups of families commuting by foot from the Hollywoodand Highlandarea to their respective accommodations. Hotels on Highlandare the Best Western Hollywood Plaza, Hollywood HeightsHotel, Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn.  The last area in Hollywoodhousing a number of hotel locations is on Sunset Blvd. All of the hotels inthis area are economy and include the Rode Way Motor Inn, Days Inn and SaharanMotor Hotel. Unlike the hotels on and near Hollywood Blvd, the distance from thesehotels to the Hollywood and Highlandscomplex is a mile or more.  The SunsetStrip is located about two miles to the west of this area. On Friday andSaturday nights, this area is often heavy with traffic as there are a varietyof night clubs along this stretch of Sunset that bring visitors and club goersfrom all over southern California.Solo backpackers may find this area of accommodation affordable and enjoyable.However visitors with children and families may not find the area to be themost welcoming compared to the more family friendly hotels of Hollywoodnear the Hollywood and Highland complex.
