I am a certified (my husband would say certifiable) Walt Disney World freak. Nothing makes me happier than being in the Happiest Place on Earth. My husband tolerates my addiction for all things Mouse-related with a grudging amusement and a tight fist on the wallet (lest I book trips for more than once a year!). Before we had kids, we went one, sometimes two times a year. We hit the thrill rides like Space Mountain, Tower of Terror and Expedition Everest. We ate at all the upscale restaurants Victoria & Alberts, Citricos and California Grill. We slept in, ordered room service and watched the sun set over Seven Seas Lagoon while relaxing on the beach at the Polynesian. Disney World can be incredibly romantic. After we had kids, well, our Disney World strategy changed. No more sleeping until 9:00 in the morning my kids have been up for at least 3 hours by then. No thrill rides when your party includes 3 kids until 42 inches tall. And I dont think they even allow kids under 10 at Victoria & Alberts. Our list of must-ride, -see, -eat attractions changed to suit the needs of our young family. Weve taken our 4 year old twins and 2 year old to Disney 4 times. What are the must-dos when you have children in the preschool age range? These are the attractions that cant be missed:1. Anything in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. Its obvious, but Dumbo, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Cinderellas Carousel these are the rides that your kids will ask to ride again and again. But be sure not to miss the Pooh-themed playground across from the Winnie the Pooh ride. Its a great place for your younger kids to run around and you to get off of your feet for a spell.2. Playhouse Disneys Dance Party at Disney Hollywood Studios. This happens on when DHS has its evening Extra Magic Hours and takes place in the studio where the Playhouse Disney Show runs during the day. Music plays, families dance and your favorite characters come out to show off their dance moves. Just dont forget your camera, because these will be some terrific photo ops!3. Illuminations Fireworks Cruise at Epcot. This is not included in the price of admission, but if you can swing the extra expense (around $300), this is one of the coolest things to do at Disney World. An hour before the fireworks, you board a pontoon boat (theyll even let you keep little ones in their stroller), sail around for a while, and then the captain parks your boat under the bridge between England and France in the World Showcase. You have an absolutely stunning view of the Illuminations show my kids were riveted! It can be loud, so if your children are sensitive to a lot of noise, be aware of that. This may be my absolute favorite thing to do at Disney.4. Affection Section at Animal Planet. Not just a petting zoo, but a petting zoo at Disney World! This is part of Rafikis Planet Watch, which promotes conservation. So the kids have fun and learn something too!5. Downtown Disney. There are so many fun things to do for little kids at Downtown Disney. Check out the Lego Store (and the Lego sea monster!), get squirted by water fountains, learn a new dance and, of course, check out the worlds largest Disney Store. There are so many things for kids of all ages to do at Disney that its hard to pick just five. Whatever you and your family do at Disney, it is sure to be a magical trip!
