On my first holiday to Ibiza, I hardly slept. There were loads of parties to go to. These started off in Playa D'en Bossa at the celebrated 'Bora Bora' beach club, where the music starts at noon and the DJs arriving at tea time. After Bora Bora, we would move onto places like Pacha, Amnesia or Privilege. The last place to stop was always Space who used to open their doors at dawn. To finish off the week flawlessly, on a Sunday we would head to Bennirras Beach and listen to the hippies playing bongo drums until the early hours of the morning. That would always send me to Es Cana in search of beaded necklaces, tie-dye shirts and bongos to take home as souvenirs from the hippie market. Another thing that Ibiza is good for is shopping and the old town keeps its shops open till well after midnight.While Ibiza has earned a name for the clubbing scene, there are countless other hidden surprises. There are over 50 beaches on the island, most of which are glorious sandy stretches fringed by clear shallow waters. Also beaches have good quality facilities for those that want to go home with a tan. Lots of families will head to these beaches as they suit everyone, young or old.Don't forget the water sports on these beaches. If you want to charter a boat, then hire it for as many hours as you want to; feel like royalty when you lease a luxury yacht for the weekend. Mostly I'm glad to just lounge on the beach with an occasional dip into the crystal clear waters, which are some of the cleanest in the Med.There are numerous things to do and see in Ibiza, in fact too many to mention here. Even history buffs will be ecstatic to learn that it dates back to ancient times when Phoenician settlers set up a trading port there. There is an ancient shrine to the Phoenician lunar goddess in one of the many accessible caves, and monuments and churches dating back through ancient times. The old Catalan town of Eivissa, Ibiza's capital, is steeped in history and the old town walls date back to the sixteenth century.Ibiza rentals accommodation is easy to find if you are looking for somewhere to stay.
