Do to current regulations, visitors can take a guided tour of the mine where the turquoise is found, but you cannot dig for it there. When the turquoise is mined the owners are searching mostly for the very large, rare and expensive pieces of turquoise, and when searching for these large pieces, they remove a lot of rocks and dirt called tailings, these piles contain a very large amount of smaller, but awesome pieces of turquoise, that the public is allowed to dig though.At the time this article was written, each person can dig through the tailing piles for 3 hours each day, and take one pail or bucket full of turquoise home with them for a fee of $100.00 per person, in this 3 hour time span, there is certainly a lot of awesome raw turquoise that you can gather, plus if you want more, just come back the next day, or whenever you can, to search for more.
