Having backpacked through most of the major European cities for the past 3 years, I felt as though I deserved a vacation from all the travelling that I had done. I know that this thought may seem a little strange to some people, but you must keep in mind that constantly travelling abroad does require much effort, and it can be physically exhausting. If you can name a place in Europe, I have probably been there; not to brag or anything. I briefly considered returning to a few of the places that I had visited along the way, as it is much easier to relax in an atmosphere that you are familiar with. Yet, in the end, I decided to try something new, Sardinia. I had never been there before, shocking I know, but I had heard many great things about it: cost of living, friendly locals, and the cuisine.While I typically stay at camp grounds while travelling to save a few bucks, I decided to treat myself for the week. I would stay in one of the nicest hotels that the area could provide, the Hilton Hotel Sardinia. I am extremely thankful that I decided on the Hilton Sardinia as it changed my entire perception of how to travel. The customer service, which campgrounds generally lack, was out of this world. I could eat at nearly anytime of the day, frequent the gym as often as I deemed necessary, and even kick back and relax in their common room. This was living.I stayed in Sardinia for just over a week, and upon departing I felt as though I could travel for another 3 years. It just goes to show that you need to take a step back from your routine every once and a while and relax. I can not stress this idea enough.
