Singapore is a small nation but is teeming, almost frothing, with wildlife corners. There are a number of parks and theme parks which encourage bird-viewing or safari rides. The most recent addition to the entourage is the River Safari which opened its gates just a few weeks back.Here, we take a look at more such attractions where wildlife and you come together, face to face:1. River Safari: Even though this park was in the pipeline since 2007, it was completed and made open for public only recently in November, 2012. A new feature was added and opened for public in April 2013. The River Safari features some heady animals and reptiles from different parts of the world. Exploring this site would be like walking into a rainforest. So, those who rue that they cannot go all the way to the Amazon Rainforest can simply plan a Singapore tour and visit this place. Yes, this place is also home to anacondas and a number of other retiles and organisms imported directly from the Amazon. Other creatures which lurk these waters include electric eels, Mekong catfishes and stingrays. Thousands of animals spread over hundreds of species reside at this place, which can be called as an eclectic mix of all the major river systems of the world. Thus, big attractions from rivers like Amazon, Nile, Yangtze and Mississippi all find a place here. And if that was not enough, then they also have Giant Pandas!2. MacRitchie Reservoir Park: Another popular park which is a delicious corner for a wildlife fanatic is the MacRitichie Reservoir Park. It is an untamed corner which is flooded with reptiles of a mixed assortment. Monitor lizards and dragons slither all over these watery places which are more like the mangrove forests of the Sundarbans. Hence, a number of Singapore packages these days are including this place in their program.PS- If you fear reptiles and lizards, then this place is certainly not for you!3. Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve: It is another wetland reserve which is quite similar in persona to the above-mentioned MacRitichie Park. Sungei Buloh too houses a number of lizards and reptiles in its cusps. In addition, it has some rare species of animals like the mud lobsters. It is also a rare corner where you can spot monitors of authentic Malayan origin. Besides, Sungei Buloh is also a birdies paradise. So, if your interest is more in ornithology rather than on reptiles, then this place is not a bad choice of venue for you.While visiting any of the above-mentioned parks, make sure to choose your attire and footwear carefully! You may have to face a lot of dirt and mud when you are navigating the forests and the rivers. Besides, it is always advisable to wear clothes which do not inconvenience you or hinder any movement. Hence, shun your sandals and stilettos and slip into those boots and sports shoes which would be perfect for these marshy wetlands.
