Khao Sok National Park is one of the best destination for adventure lovers when they come to Thailand. There are many activities for visitors to do both day and night and one of the highlights is night safari at the lake in the Khao Sok Nationa Park.My night safari trip started at 8pm when a local guide took us on a boat and glided along Ratchaprapa dam or Chiew Larn Lake which is its old name. Our guide names Dum but we called him uncle Dum as he's around 50 year of age. Dum in Thai means black that might refer to his dark skin. We had a bit of conversation and I found out that he had a lot a vast knowledge about Khao Sok National Park as he's been living here all his life. He was very friendly with very strong southern Thai accent that sometimes made it difficult for me to understand.It took a while until we were in the middle of the lake. Our guide stopped the boat engine and asked us to be quiet. He handled a torch and pointed it toward the closest jungle area. Everything seemed very dark and quiet. All you could see was his torch light and a moon and stars on the sky. Not for long he told us that he spotted something moved down the jungle. He pointed the torch toward it and we saw a small spot lights. It was mouse deers having water down the lake. Then we saw a civet cat, owes, lemur and fireflies. The highlight was gaurs which was the most exciting creature we had seen on the trip!Overall it took about 2-3 hours for this trip with a good chance to see wild creatures before heading back to the place where we stayed.
