Morzine is the main town of the Portes du Soleil skiing area, with its 650km of runs encompassing areas in both France and Switzerland. This means that, when you book a holiday here, you know the skiing is going to be good. But what makes Morzine different is that it is actually a working town all year round, rather than just a resort – and as a result, its nightlife is always full on.Whether you want your après ski to involve beer beside the slopes, early drinks, or all night partying, Morzine has plenty of venues to tempt you. The après ski scene here tends to kick off early (at around 3pm) and goes well into the early hours, so you’ll need all your stamina to ski its vast area by day, then party all night.Fun When the Sun Goes DownIn Morzine you can literally finish your last run, prop your skis up and walk straight off the piste into one of the town’s must bustling après hot spots. Le Tremplin is located at the bottom of Pleney and usually has a DJ playing so that you can have your first drink, listen to some great tunes and get the party started before you even take off your ski boots.If you do make it home to change then head back out for a seriously strong Mutzig lager at ‘Robbos’ (Bar Robinsons). The 8 per cent lager is the only thing on tap here, so expect to get the evening well under way after a few pints.From Robbos you probably won’t care where you stagger to next, but there are a good few options. Some of the best I’d recommend are Dixie Bar for live music, Bar Rhodos for live sporting events, and Chez Roger’s for its boozy, friendly vibe.If you still don’t want to go home, there are loads of late night bars to enjoy where music and shots keep going into the early hours. The Tibetan Café, Coyote Bar and The Cavern are all in the same complex and are all worth a visit. Café Chaud is run by the team that hosts most of the parties on the slopes here and is always lively.There are two clubs, l’Opera and Le Paradise, which will usually take you close to dawn so you can get a couple of hours’ kip before the lifts open and you do it all again.Something More SophisticatedIf you fancy a slightly quieter night (maybe you’re suffering from a little too much Mutzig), then there are some great bars in Morzine where you can enjoy a drink in a slightly calmer atmosphere.Check out Coup de Coeur for great wines with beautiful mountain views and pizzas if you get hungry, Beanies for good live music, and The BecJaune for home-brewed beer and excellent food.How to Get to MorzineThe quickest way to get to Morzine from the UK is to fly to either Geneva, Chambéry or Lyon Airport.
