When most people think of trade show exhibits, they tend to imagine a large booth set up amidst many other units inside a convention hall. They rarely think about the many uses for custom exhibits outside of an exhibition, including at private promotional events, public gatherings, fundraisers, and in the office as a welcome for visitors. As a nonprofit organization, you are always seeking new ways to get the most return on your investment while spending as little as possible. A well designed booth or banner stand could provide a big benefit for a small cost.Banner Stands As A Nonprofit BasicFor many nonprofits, name recognition is vital. Whenever you make a publicly recognized move, you want to ensure that cameras are there to capture not just what you're doing, but that your organization is behind it. One of the best ways to do this is by ensuring your name is always in the frame with a well-placed banner. If you are hosting a press release, you should have a press room set up for the occasion. If you are a small nonprofit without a dedicated room, or if you are just starting up and don't even have a formal office yet, you can spend a few hours converting any room into a temporary press room. The banner should be placed behind where the speaker will be, easily visible in any photos that might be taken but not distracting from whatever he or she is saying. The same positioning works at many events. For example, if your organization is sponsoring a roundtable or symposium, your banner can be positioned behind the speaker or panelists. You may be sharing wall space with your co-sponsors (if there are any) but you will still gain the benefit of name recognition in any photos that are published. With the advent of social media and the many other ways to share photos, you're likely to see a wide circulation of your name with very little investment.Using Customized Trade Show ExhibitsActual trade show displays are not quite as versatile as banner stands, but their utility should not be underestimated. While they do cost more, they can very effectively communicate the purpose of your nonprofit and impress potential donors and political influencers. The key is to design your trade show exhibits to properly reflect your company. Most nonprofits will need custom exhibits to ensure that the right feeling is captured; many non-custom trade show displays are simply too promotional by nature to fit a company that's not for profit. Some of the most effective custom exhibits have been designed as a walkthrough of the nonprofit's work, tracing the history of the particular cause after the organization became involved. This timeline strategy allows you to showcase the specifics of what you do while also pointing out how much you have helped and how much work still needs to be done.Pricing Trade Show DisplaysIt may be tempting to choose the most inexpensive unit you can obtain, but your organization should use caution before choosing a deal that seems too good to be true. Choose the most reputable companies first, and see whether they might offer a discount to nonprofits. Many recognize the value that you bring to the community, and will happily reflect that in the price.
