The world-famous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race also finishes at Constitution Dock near Salamanca in late December each year.Because Tasmania is so small it is possible to base yourself in a particular spot, and with day trips visit so many of the islands natural beautiful sites: Cradle Mountain with Dove Lake, Stanley with its extinct volcano rock formation known as the Nut, Freycenet National Park and Wineglass Bay just to mention a few. A large portion of the west coast is so dense and uninviting that it has never been explored.
