Sometimes it is shocking to think about the growth in technology, and how we have become so heavily reliant on it. Have you ever considered what would happen if the power went out for a couple of days? One would not have access to banking information, music, and an abundance of other things that we merely take for granted. This thought popped into my head when I was booking our luxury Edinburgh hotel last Fall. It was so simple to make a reservation that I almost felt as though there must have been some kind of mistake. For this reason, I resorted to phoning the hotel. They seemed a little shocked that I phoned them, as most of their reservations are done online. Yet, the customer service agent was so kind and funny, that I think I will make hotel reservations over the phone from now on.Back to the subject of technology. Have you ever considered what it would be like to go back to a time when computers were not commonplace, or you actually had to speak to someone at the bank in order to get the mortgage? Most of us take all of this for granted, as we are expected to. Yet, there is so much work that goes on behind the scenes that we tend to overlook. Those that are ensuring that our lives are running efficiently, and that we remain loyal consumers, receive no recognition. I doubt you would recognize the individual that introduced online banking if you passed him on the street, but I guarantee he has made a huge impact on all of our lives.Whether you are downloading music online, or booking a Edinburgh Hilton hotel in Scotland, technology has, and will continue to, play a big role in our lives. Just do not forget to slow down every once and a while and appreciate it.
