It was the dinner of a life time, in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever been in, the Edinburgh Castle. My husband is not one for romance, he has a hard enough time even purchasing flowers on our anniversary, but when he does try to demonstrate his love he goes well beyond my expectations. He had gone to great lengths in booking the Edinburgh Castle hotel, and even managed to keep it a secret from me for over two months. Normally, the thought of your significant other keeping secrets causes alarm bells to start ringing, but in this instance it was more than appreciated. It was Christmas 2009 when all of this went down, but I still recall it vividly to this day. As if the hotel was not enough, he managed to outdo himself on Christmas day. Apparently, the Edinburgh Castle puts on quite a dinner for special guests that involves a traditional Scottish setting, as well as some of the local cuisine; to be truthful, I did not care for some of the traditional food, but the setting alone was enough to overlook this issue. I do not even want to know the cost of the entire trip, as I am sure that it was not cheap, but the experience is worth more than money and that is what truly matters. While I was not expecting anything more than had already been provided for me, my husband had one last surprise for me. Besides the luxury hotel Edinburgh, and the amazing castle dinner, my husband presented me with a new ring. I was a little shocked when he did this, as I was still in love with the one that I received on our wedding day. Yet, he felt it necessary to celebrate our ten year anniversary a little early this year. I can not say how loved I felt during this trip. I still have a hard time not crying when I think about it.
