If youve only got a week, you can see the best that Argentina has to offer from the cosmopolitan capital Buenos Aires to the magnificent Iguazu Falls to the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia. On Day 1, arrive to Buenos Aires and spend some time exploring the city on your own. Buenos Aires is filled with neighborhoods, such as Puerto Madero and Recoleta, with abundant museums, shopping, restaurants, and historical sites that can be explored independently. Excellent dining can also be found throughout the city, and trendy Palermo boasts a concentration of fine options. Day 2 should be dedicated to an organized city tour of Buenos Aires, during which you can learn about the history of the city, visit historical sites, and explore the most famous districts including San Telmo and La Boca. A tango show, either at a big tango house or a more intimate milonga, is a great way to end the evening.Days 3 and 4 will be spent in Iguazu. The flight from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu is 1 hour and 46 minutes. On the first day take it easy at your hotel or embark on some independent exploring of the falls. The advantage of being of the Argentina side of the falls is that you can get up close and personal with the falls (the Brazil side has the best panoramic views) and explore the falls via walkways or on boats. There is also the train ride to the Devils Throat. The remainder of this one-week tour is dedicated to Patagonia, which is vast and has many attractions, the most spectacular of which is unquestionably the Perito Moreno Glacier. The base town for this adventure is El Calafate and Day 5 begins with a flight from Puerto Iguazu to El Calafate. The town is small but has some attractions nearby, including the Nimes Lagoon. On Day 6 you will have an early morning start from town to the glacier. During the transfer youll pass the beautiful azure Lago Argentino, as well as Patagonian wildlife and a few scattered estancias. Once at the Perito Moreno glacier, you can explore on a 1 hour mini trek or a longer glacier climbing trek. To get up close to the glacier, take a boat tour on Lago Rico. Day 7 is your departure from El Calafate. Of course, if you have more than a week you can add excursions to Mendoza, Salta, Puerto Madryn, Ushuaia, or even outside the country to neighboring Brazil, Chile, Peru, or Bolivia.
