The wind farm will be situated at the Bandirma province inNorthwestern Turkey.  Danish Vestas WindSystems A/S will be in charge of supplying and building 31 units of its V90wind turbines and will also manage its wind energy management platform.  Each of the wind turbines has a 3 megawattcapacity. Vestas has also agreed to provide service for the wind farmfor 10 years.The wind farm project –which will be completed by mid-2011–,will be getting its wind turbines from Vestas in the fourth quarter of theyear.The Turkish wind power plant will be generating at least 333,000megawatt-hours per year, which translates to the reduction of close to 160,000tons of carbon dioxide.  The electricity isexpected to power 52,250 homes in Turkey. Vestas Mediterranean president Juan Araluce says Vestas ishappy to be working with the Aaolu Group forthe second time.  The two companies hadjust finished a 33-megawatt project situated at a Mersin province in southernTurkey.Vestas first wind turbine was built in Turkey in 1984.  Its first office, on the other hand, wasestablished in Istanbul in January 2008. The office had been a center for all construction, service operations,and sale transactions in Turkey and the Middle East. Vestas’ total installed capacity of wind power in Turkey is280 mega-watt, generated by 107 wind turbines. Araluce adds Vestas is prepared to help in the growth of thewind energy market in Turkey, at the same time noting that with the rightlong-regulatory framework to back up the renewable energy industry, Turkey ispoised to achieve its renewable energy targets.Turkey has a target of generating 30 percent of theirelectricity from renewable energy resources by 2023.  Turkey aspires 20,000 megawatt of this tocome from wind power. Galata Wind Energy Limited is a subsidiary of the Aaolu Group, one of Turkey’s biggest groups of companieswhich is involved in the construction, tourism, service and energy industries.  Galata Wind Energy has three windenergy generation projects with an annual capacity of 203 megawatts inBal1kesir province.  According to their website, Aaolu Group ‘s priorities include developing environmentally friendlyprojects by utilizing natural resources, keeping the costs down by employingstate of the art & efficient technologies, and tapping domestic resourcesas much as possible.
