Since there was not literature on thedevelopment of digital cameras, Steven Sasson had to work from scratch usingcomponents from other cameras. The camera weighed 8 pounds and was the size oftraditional toasters. However, his discovery led to the development of todays digitalcamera, which has incorporated other technologies including the LCD screen. For one,you do not need to buy films and waste a lot of time developing them in astudio. Another benefit you have is the ability to edit or delete a picturebefore printing out, an option which was not available with the analog modes.Although the digital cameras areconsidered a milestone in technological advancement, they have some drawbackstoo. The major one is the initial costs incurred when buying the digital camera.The cameras come at high prices, which some view as exorbitant. Limitedknowledge on computers and photo editing software also makes it hard for somepeople to adapt the technology. Some of the photos produced by the digitalcameras require editing done using software like Photoshop which is a bitcomplex for some people. Authenticity is also affected if you opt for the digitalcameras; images can be altered using software therefore changing the originalappearance of the image.
