Kindle FireWith its smaller screen at 7 inches and 8 GB memory limit you would think that this might be one of the slower moving items this year, but you would be wrong. The Kindle Fire is moving off shelves very quickly because of its array of features. Not only does it include an Android-based operating system that gives you access to more than 200,000 applications, its 1080i high-definition screen capability with up to 1280 by 600 resolution and USB 2.0 compatibility mean you can share with other Android-based devices. The Fire recognizes all major formats including DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF and features WiFi hotspot compatibility with 802.11a/b/g/n formats as well as standard security formats including WPA, WPA2 and WEP. Offering 1 GHZ, dual-core performance, 16 million colors, the slick Silk reader and access to vast libraries of films, music and books, as well as its built-in ability to read in bright light without glare, it is no wonder the Kindle Fire is setting off alarms. It offers free cloud drive storage and background syncingApple iPad 2It offers a standard 16 GB of storage, 16 million colors and 1 GHz performance from an Apple-designed dual-core processor. It does offer nice multitasking ability, although you will have to close move windows into the background or close them down to access a new feature. Apple uses its proprietary Safari browser and it does offer cloud drive storage. Its keypad feature allows you to interface with any email system and it will also work with Amazon, Apple and other libraries. Video conferencing is built into the two-camera iPad, one front, one rear, but it does lack a USB 2.0 compatibility. On the plus side, its 132-plane ips system allows you to view your screen at any angle. The keys to iPad are its lighter weight, thinner size and nicer feel and its WiFi capability.Samsung GalaxyWith the largest screen in this category, the 10-inch Samsung Galaxy which is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Tegra processor offers 16GB of onboard memory or more than enough for high-definition video and 16 million colors like its competitors. Its price class puts it right up there with the Apple iPad but its access to the Acrobat Honeycomb 3 operating system gives you access to over 200,000 applications that can be arrayed in multiple windows. Like others in this category, it offers WiFi capability in public hotspots and is compatibility with the 802.11a/b/g/n networking standards as well as standard security features such as WPA, WPA2 and WEP. It has a quick-touch screen that does resist scratching and gives you the ability to interface with various email systems. A key feature is its ability to access Google and all of its features including maps and GPS.HP Touch PadThe 9.7-inch HP Touch Pad offers 16 GB memory, and runs the speediest processor, a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor. If you want to do anything, you must interface with HP's system. For example, if you would like to sync up your mail, you must use the Synergy application (proprietary) or if you would like to update your music you must sync it through the Blasts Audio app, available only from HP. Other interesting items include the need for special HP-supplied adapters for USB 2.0 compatibility, as well as other adapters for high-definition displays. The display, though, is excellent and the Touch does allow on-screen multitasking and grouping the similar tasks together. Article Tags: Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy, Apple Ipad, Million Colors
